Interviewing model Marissa Ricci

1. How did you first discover your passion for modeling, and what inspired you to pursue it professionally?

I first discovered my passion for modeling when I realized how much I loved fashion, creativity, and the confidence that comes with expressing yourself in front of the camera. Over time, I became more interested in the industry and the different ways models use their presence and rising public attention to tell a story or "their" own story to inspire and be relatable to the public. I knew it was something i wanted to be apart of because modeling felt like a way for me to express my individuality in a safe and non-judgmental place, to challenge myself, and bring my own vision and story to life. From that moment on as I started gaining industry recognition, winning multiple national elite competitions, placing in the top 1% in global competitions, getting agency attention and then officially being signed and becoming a professional model, I knew I wanted to pursue this and see how far my passion could take me. This industry is cutthroat, it's definitely not for the weak. You get a lot of losses, and "no's", you have to fit certain criteria's to be in certain shows or events which you would die to be apart of, other women out beat you in competitions. A lot of times you have to take the hits and "L's", but when you do get win's or you do continue getting approached due to being seen somewhere a long the line, it's an amazing and surreal moment that is unlike anything else and a dream come true.

2. Do you remember your first professional modeling experience? What was that moment like for you?

I do actually, and it makes me laugh to think about. This feels like centuries ago - but it was in 2016. My best girlfriend at the time actually was doing some gigs, she knew some people in the industry trying to promote either a clothing line or something they'd created and made into a company. They needed models to promote their brand and that's exactly what I did for a clothing line that was in it's early stages of getting known. We did a shoot downtown MPLS and it was an incredible experience and I loved every minute of it. It felt natural to me, and just felt like such a freeing experience that I am so glad to have been apart of.

3. The modeling industry can be very competitive. What have been some of the biggest challenges you have faced throughout your career?

I believe what makes a model truly stand out, beyond physical appearance, is their presence, personality, and the way they make people feel along with the energy that they bring. Physical beauty might catch someone's attention, but it's confidence, authenticity, and individuality that make them memorable. A truly remarkable model knows how to express and captivate different emotions through their eyes, communicate a story through their movements, and bring life to a concept rather than simply pose for a camera.

5. Is there a particular photographer, designer, brand, or creative professional you have always dreamed of working with?

This is a very hard question as I feel I can't just answer to one. But, the top three (sorry) brands that come into my mind right away are Maxim, Playboy, & Honey Birdette. All 3 would be a dream come true for me. There are definitely more, but I already went well over one.

6. Fashion and beauty trends are constantly changing. How do you develop and maintain your own personal style?

I just try to maintain my individuality, not forget who I am the further I get into the industry, or where I came from. I of course, pay attention to the new trends, and styles. Beauty such as make-up, hair, and skin care. I like to throw in my own twist of what is currently trending and keep it personalized. I have been known by friends and family to be mysterious, enigmatic, and to keep one on their toes. I like to be seen that way instead of being predictable, I like to lead not follow, and start my own fashion and beauty trends that maybe other people such as friends, family, and followers of mine will continue the trend.

7. What has been the most memorable photoshoot or modeling project of your career so far, and why?

Again, it wasn't and isn't just one. It's actually two - those two are the Maxim competitions where I surprisingly ended up becoming a grand finalist in 3 (including Maxim cover girl 2026). All of the Maxim competitions are based off of public voting and they have many rounds to go through and beat other contestants in. One even goes into halftime which is the hardest one and in my opinion most competitive one, Maxim Covergirl 2026. Those specific competitions including the other project I've competed in which was Playboy x Honey Birdette, are especially hard because it isn't just one, two, three times voters have to vote for you to move along or stay in a steady place - but you have to keep many voters engaged through out the entirety of the competitions. Especially, at the end where it heats up and really honestly matters the most. Your fans and followers are to thank for you crossing the finish line at the end. For me and how I've been able to claim the wins I have thus far, and be in this position I am sitting in today, I am forever grateful for my individual specific loyal fans/followers. I would like to say thank you so much since this will be published and put out there for everyone to see, I love you all and thank you so much for all of your love and support.

8. How do you prepare mentally and emotionally before stepping in front of the camera or walking onto a runway?

Before stepping in front of the camera or walking into a photoshoot, I take a moment to center myself, breathe deeply, and focus on the present. I remind myself that confidence from believing in who I am and trusting the preparation I've put in. I try to turn any nervousness into positive energy as I am all about positive vibes and having fun. A big part of these photoshoots and/or interviews, or being in front of a camera is not just about one but rather it's about making connections with whomever you get the pleasure of working with. But rather making new friends, being someone that brands, designers, models, writers/producers, BTS cast, and more, want to work with again and again. And who will relay that to other professionals within the industry who will hopefully turn around and ask to work with you as well. Like they say it's not about what you know, but who you know and that is key in this industry. I try to see every opportunity I've had past, present, and upcoming as a chance to express myself, be creative, and to grow as a model/actress. Most importantly, I stay true to myself, embrace my individuality, and walk with confidence, knowing that my attitude and energy are just as important if not more important as my appearance.
