Interviewing actress Denise Harris

1.-Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you started your acting career?

I'm sending you first an article from True Icon Magazine from last year. maybe you can get some ideas from that also. But I started doing acting by theatre work. I have the niche for making people laugh and cry. It's a story telling moment whether it's true or a fantasy.

2.-What inspired you to become an actress?

Performance Baby Performance. The directors make you a natural take after, take after, take until you get it right for their satisfaction. That inspired me so much to understand the concepts even more. It also helps you more by whatever character you're portraying.. you'll remember what one of your directors told you.

3.-Which role has been the most challenging for you so far, and why?

Well.. it was the role of being a neglected spouse. An abused spouse. In the film Moving Beyond Shattered Vows. Directed by Duane Nunnally Jr. During filming I put myself into that role so much in which it made the other actors cry. It was a mentality thing with me though.. In love and the hurt and in pain all the time...

4.-How do you prepare for a new character?

After doing this for awhile, I seclude myself always. Read my script over and over again. Prepare myself as what the director expects me to do or act as. And usually if I can feel my script I may ask if it's ok to add a line or two to bring it out more.

5.-Is there a particular performance that you are especially proud of?

Yes the one in Moving Beyond Shattered Vows. Whether you are a Man or Woman. The message in this film let's you know.. You do have a choice.. STAY OR GO.

6.-What have been some of the biggest challenges you have faced in the entertainment industry?

OH MAN... Will the people love me and my shyness, But so far so goood!. I broke that spell. That's why I'm performing really hard. I want Mr. TYLER PERRY to grab me. LOL and I guarantee you he will not regret it.

7.-How do you balance your personal life with your professional career?

At first it was hard. But I made a schedule for myself. As some say BUSINESS BEFORE PLEASURE. Is what i go by. I study hard at what I do.

8.-Have you ever learned a valuable lesson from a character you portrayed?

Yes.. Not just a character, but all of them. You learn out of each role you play or portray whether it's fact or fiction. It's the concept of it.

9.-Who are some actors or actresses that have inspired you throughout your career?

Morgan Freeman, Viola Davis, Angela Basset, Kyra Sedgwick, and long gone actors Sidney Poitier and Cicely Tyson. I have more, but these actors brought meaning to the screen in their performance.

10.-What do you enjoy most about working in film and television?

THE AUDIENCE. I love the audience so much. The people are your most critics. To please them. Please yourself first. If you know what they want to see and hear.. GIVE IT TO THEM.

11.-How has the industry changed since you began your career?

The industry to me has changed a lot. It has updated itself to newer surroundings. Steadily growing to newer things in this world. Creativity is developing to adjust the world with new ideas as we see it.

12.-What advice would you give to young people who dream of becoming actors?

Hey. You are always going to fall down. You are always going to have a door slam in your face.. No Problem. Something you have seen before.. Just get up and try again and again. And you have to ask yourself. Have you ever heard the word NO before. Common sense this is all part of life. You have to tackle it head on. Thoroughly do your research. I mean every inch of it. Even if you have to start out as a background work.

13.-Are there any upcoming projects that you are excited to share with your fans?

Yes I do. I will be voice-overs in a animation movie. Called SALT EATS FIRE. We have not stared filming yet but it is in process.

14.-What would you like your legacy to be as an actress?

As a job well done and performed.. Thank you audience I love you all. God Bless.
