Interviewing model Katherine P.
1.-What inspired you to become a model, and what do you love most about your job?
I always admired the woman’s body, and dreamed to be a playboy model. So basically me, as a girl 10 years ago inspired myself to become a model.
2.-How do you prepare for a photoshoot or runway show? What’s your routine like?
Most important for me is the slow morning, so I am very delighted when my photoshoot starts in the midday. If so, I wake up , drink water and coffee. Water always before my coffee! I like to do some easy cardio with stretching exercises, maybe watch some series during it. Then have a light breakfast, get my skin ready for the shoot. Though its only happens if I don’t have to be too early in the studio , otherwise I just wake up at 6-7, have coffee and run to the location.
3.-What advice would you give to young girls who want to start a career in modeling?
Go for it ! It’s such a great way to become confident, and so so much fun !
Always remember , don’t trust too much to sweet stories about lucrative future, it never falls from the sky - you have to work hard to get yourself great results.
4.-How do you stay fit and healthy? Do you have any favorite workouts or diets?
It’s a good mix of everything: discipline with food, exercises too ( I don’t go to the gym, I train at home). My favorite workout is whatever I find more suitable for myself today, but lately I like practicing hand stand! For your note, I don’t only eat buckwheat, steaks and eggs, I do also have sometimes chips, McDonald’s and coke ( not a diet one, it has more sugar than a normal one). The main thing with food is to not overeat, a small portion would be always enough. And if I eat in a restaurant, or wether at home - eat to still feel a bit hungry.
5.-Can you tell us about a memorable experience you’ve had in your career so far?
Probably the Playboy shoot was one of those days, it was veery stressful and I didn’t eat for 2 days before ( just kefir ) what is very unhealthy. It was beautiful: a lot of accessories, preparations, tries on. I was the star - sitting in front of the mirror while everybody was trying to find the perfect match for my look. And still, I remember another cool time of my model life: climbing on the hill next to the beach in Maui, almost burning down the house - but such cool memories and photos in the end. That is the photographer I always like to work with.
Troy, big hugs
6.-How do you handle the pressure and stress of being a model?
Usually I stress more with going out to people and public speaking, otherwise modeling for me is relaxation. It’s not where you have to speak. It’s where you have relations with the camera. Of course, sometimes the vibe between photo team and me aren’t always good, so then I just focus on the result and myself at work.
7.-What do you like to do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of modeling?
I love writing poems, small stories. Lately I am having in mind an idea to publish one book online. I love to do puzzles, usually up to 3 thousand pieces. Also, knitting scarves to every member of my family ;) And I love going to the cinemas, even alone - just a small relaxation with a nice movie.
8.-How do you think social media has impacted the modeling industry?
Nowadays from what I see - it impacts terrible. It feels like there’s not much personality left of a person, cause everybody trying to follow the trends given by social media. With the instagram, which with its algorithms doesn’t let artist to improve and share their work.
Especially as I am a nude model - it affects me a lot.
9.-Can you tell us about a challenging experience you’ve had in your career and how you overcame it?
I had one shooting when the photographer was too meticulous about the set I was on. Long story short. I was posing, and he always was trying to change my pose step by step: correcting my hand position, my hair, legs - so in. The end I could have the same pose I’ve started with. That was frustrating, I almost cancelled the photoshoot. Then I just put my attention on me and had just an image of me chilling home - that thoughts really helped me coming through this.
10.-What do you think is the most important thing for models to consider when working with clients or brands?
You have to know the brand or a client. It’s like getting ready for the exam - you have to be prepared.
11.-Can you tell us about any upcoming projects or campaigns you’re working on?
This year I decided to to take it slowly, with no plans, I do have some cool shoots planned in Spain, who knows, maybe you’d see them published in some magazine !
12.-What message or inspiration would you like to share with our readers?
That beauty isn’t only a shape, a certain age or look aren’t either - so don’t hesitate to explore and try, Presence always matters more than perfection. You don’t have to be loud to be seen.
