Interviewing actress Kelsey Tuck
1.-How was your childhood?
I was fortunate to have a great childhood. My parents encouraged me to try multiple different hobbies and sports, and challenged me to excel academically. They helped me to build a strong foundation and gave me a positive outlook on life.
2.-From what age did you decide to be an actress and how did you know you had the skills to go on TV?
I got into acting in late 2019 when I was 23, almost 24. I had just finished nursing school and started modeling during that time since I had some extra free time and always wanted to explore the creative side of myself. Modeling opened the door to acting, and I quickly realized how much I loved being in front of the camera. The positive feedback I received, along with the joy I felt on set, helped me realize that I had a natural connection to performance and could take it further—like working on feature films."
3.-Did your parents support you in the decision you made to be an actress?
Yes, my parents have been very supportive of me. Even though acting was a new direction for me after nursing, they encouraged me to follow my passion. Knowing they believed in me gave me the confidence to take risks and keep growing in this path."
4.-What was your first appearance on the screen?
My first on-screen appearance was as a featured extra in a movie called The Will (2019). It was such a new and exciting experience, I was incredibly nervous, but once I stepped on set, I knew I couldn’t back out. That experience taught me the value of stepping into uncomfortable situations and trusting myself to perform. Just a couple of weeks later, I booked my first small role in Madman Chronicles Vol. 2, which really motivated me to keep going
5.-What was the role you liked the most?
My favorite role so far has been playing Kelsey Miller in The Millers (2024) on Tubi. It was the first time I got to play a villain and perform my own stunts, which was incredibly exciting. Just a month before filming, I took a stunt class to learn high falls, and I was thrilled to use that skill in a stair fall scene. This role challenged me in new ways and opened the door to more villain roles for me, and I’m steadily on track to have played more villains than heroes.
6.-What do you think led to your success?
I think a combination of factors led me to where I am today. The first is hard work and consistency, both in the industry and in my day to day life. I am fortunate to have a fantastic job that allows me act without the concern of how I will pay rent or where my next meal will come from. I also stayed true to myself and my beliefs, which has allowed me to build genuine connections with people in the industry and across the world, further opening doors to amazing opportunities. I am continuously working to improve my craft which allows me to be ready for almost any role at any time.
7.-What type of characters would you like to interpret?
I enjoy playing characters who have depth and emotion; people who face challenges and grow through their experiences. I’m especially drawn to those who find their strength over time, whether they be the hero or the villain.
8.-What has been your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement in life has been the journey of combining my passions, working in nursing, traveling the world, and acting, into a meaningful life path. Nursing taught me compassion, resilience, and strength. Traveling allowed me to experience, understanding, and appreciate different cultures and ways of living. And acting allowed me to bring all those human experiences to life on the screen. Being able to blend those worlds, to care for people, to learn from them, and to then channel that into my creative work, has been incredibly fulfilling. I am proud of how each of those experiences has shaped who I am today.
9.-Which projects will you make next and which ones do you have in mind?
I recently wrapped a feature film and two horror short films, and I’m currently working on a vertical romance film. Working across these different genres has helped me grow as an actress and explore a variety of characters. Looking ahead, I would love to be part of an action film. I'm really drawn to the physicality and energy of that genre, and I’m eager to take on new challenges that push me outside my comfort zone.
10.-Would you like to make a movie in Spain?
Yes, absolutely! I would love to make a film in Spain. The country has such a rich cinematic history, breathtaking locations, and a unique culture. I think working in Spain would be an amazing opportunity to collaborate with talented artists and experience storytelling from a different perspective
11.-Do you like Spanish cinema?
Yes, I do like Spanish cinema, although I’ve only seen a limited number of films so far. One that really stood out to me was Volver by Pedro Almodóvar. I was struck the strength of the female characters, and the emotional storytelling. Watching films like that makes me want to explore even more of what Spanish cinema has to offer.
