Interviewing actress Stasa Nikolic

1-. How was your childhood?

I grew up in a small town in the south of Serbia, so we were not so rich, our country was just recovering from many wars… but it was a real childhood, without all these mobile phones:)

2. - From what age did you decide to be an actress and how did you know you had the skills to go on TV?

I was doing dancing classes, singing and playing the piano, so no acting until I was 15 or 16. I think one actor told me I should try to study acting and that’s when I decided I’m gonna do it! But I always wanted to act in film and TV series.

3. - Did your parents support you in the decision you made to be an actress?

Well, my mom was okey with it, but I think I still have to work on my dad excepting it😹 They are okey with it, not so happy, but I’m doing well so they cannot say anything…

4. - What was your first appearance on the screens?

When I was in faculty I did many many student films, short films, TV films, sitcoms so I had a lot of experience. My first professional film was “Military Academy” and it was both film and series, and my first big role on TV was in the show “Dads”. My first international film was “Subspecies V”, that’s when my international career started.

5. - What was the role you liked the most?

I think that’s the role of Viola in Shakespeare in love, wich I play in Belgrade drama theatre. That one was also the hardest one for me, the play lasts for 3 hours…

6.- What do you think led you to fame?

Well, I’m only at the beginning of my career, but I think people usually recognize me from these popular series, although I love acting in films more, now is the time for TV series or shows on platforms, everyone is making them.

7-. What types of characters you would like to interpret?

Anything that I didn’t portray so far, anything new and inspiring… I love good stories, and good scripts, I would love to write a good story for film in the future, I’m co-writing right now, so I have time to practice for my own one day:)

8-. What actresses and actors do you feel comfortable working with?

Well, with all actors who are kind and caring. People forget to be kind in this business and they let their ego controling them, but with time I learned how to deal with them, so now I don’t have any problem working with anyone.

9-. In what other genres of art would you like to participate? (Works of theater, music, among others)

I work already in music theatre, in drama theatre I work for several years, but I would like to do more musicals, also some tragedies , I’ve been doing comedies a lot lately. Also some other genres in film, like action, or science fiction.

10.- Do you have any anecdotes that have marked you in your life and as a person?

No, but I think we should be really careful with whom we spend our time, because those people influence on us and on our energy.

11.- What has been your greatest achievement?

I think my two new films that need to come out, one is American “Battle for Castle Itter” for US and Canada’s Tubi platform, and the other one is Serbian film “Deadline” wich need to come out soon. In both I’m having lead female roles, and they’re both in the time of WW2, so 1940s.

12.- What projects will you make next and which ones do you have in mind?

Right now I’m finishing the sound effects (singing and voiceover) for the film “When I wake up”, we shot that film in France, Paris, so It was a blast. Also, I’m shooting new series in Belgrade and preparing a theatre show called “Angela”.

13.- Would you like to make a movie in Spain?

Well, right now I think it’s impossible, but my really good friend is Mexican so she’s planning on bringing me to Spain, for a trip.
Can’t wait:)

14.- you like spanish cinema?

Yes! Especially Almodovar and Cruz, I love everything they do! We learned in faculty a lot about Luis Bunuel, so I love him too.
