Interviewing actress and producer Michelle Deniesse

1-. How was your childhood?

I grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. I was a very creative child, though I was very lonely and introverted. I loved to live in my mind and create stories. My pets were always my best friends. Honestly, I was a quiet, nerdy, and obedient child.

2.-At what age did you decide to be an actress, and how did you know you had the skills to appear on TV?

Ever since I was a little girl, I liked to create my own storylines within the shows I watched. I didn’t know much about the entertainment industry, but I really admired actors and always hoped to become one at some point. I was never sure if I had the skills at all; I just wanted to do it; it kind of felt like a calling.

3.- Did your parents support your decision to be an actress?

When I was still in high school, the theater club opened, and I quickly decided to join. Back then, my parents were okay with that as long as it was just an extracurricular activity. They always hoped for me to become a doctor, engineer, or a lawyer, but I’ve always wanted to be an artist. When I told them I wanted to pursue a career in the arts and entertainment, they were not really that supportive. I guess they were scared that I could not make a living out of it. Even when I attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts here in Los Angeles for my acting studies, they were not happy with my decision. However, they now support me in my career choices and celebrate my artistic and professional achievements.

4.- What was your first appearance on the screens?

My first official appearance was in Natalia del Mar, a Venezuelan soap opera by the major TV network Venevision. I was about 17 years old, and after doing theater for years, I could not believe I had a role in an actual soap opera.

5.- What was the role you liked the most?

I’m definitely in love with my characters Max and Ana in Elixir: After Time. I love the duality that we created, from the writing to the directing and performance. It was challenging to play two characters at the same time, I’m so proud of it! I also love my character Atlas in Again The Series; she’s kind of complicated, and I had a lot of emotional scenes in each episode, which helped me work on my own character development and acting range.

6.- What do you think led you to fame?

I’m not sure I’m famous, it’s still weird to think so. Social media played a crucial role in my life and my career. My wife and I started our social media by creating fandubs in Latin American Spanish of sapphic asian shows (gl series), and it helped us build a following, and also prepare ourselves for the acting challenges that were to come when starring in our own series. I think of our followers not as fans, but as a family who always support us and send us their love.

7-. What types of characters would you like to interpret?

I absolutely love thriller, horror, and supernatural genres. I’d love to keep playing supernatural roles such as witches, vampires, or any kind of supernatural creature. A character I’d love to play would probably be a bodyguard or a secret agent, someone who can fight and is tough, I think that’d be a challenge for me!

8-. What actresses and actors do you feel comfortable working with?

I’ve had the chance to work with many other actors in past projects, and I’ve felt very comfortable. I just like to make the workplace a good place to work, bringing the best of me every time.

9-. In what other genres of art would you like to participate? (Works of theater, music, among others)

Music is another practice of art that we do at Shanelle Productions, and I enjoy it a lot! I play some musical instruments, and I do want to keep improving my musical skills. I miss doing theater, so that’s still an open door for me. Voice artistry is also something I’ve been doing for the past years. Painting is a form of art I’m curious about, and I would love to learn more about it.

10.- Do you have any anecdotes that have marked you in your life and as a person?

I have plenty, from good to bad, supernatural to funny, you name it! I think every experience can shape our lives and make an impact in a certain way. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and, as my therapist says, we are in this life to experience.

11.- What has been your greatest achievement?

Right now, I’m very proud of the recent awards our original web series have gotten: Best TV Pilot/Web Series Award at the 2025 Winter Kraken International Film Festival in Milan, Italy for Elixir: After Time. Best Web Series Pilot Award at the 2025 Global Visionaries Film Festival in Singapore for Elixir: After Time. Best LGBTQ+ Narrative at the 2025 Elegant
International Film Festival in Bengal, India for Again The Series. Best Episodic Television Award at the 2024 Bangkok Movie Awards in Bangkok, Thailand for Elixir: After Time. Best Web Series International Award at the 2024 Shunyatam International Film Festival in Mumbai, India for Again The Series. Finalist at the 2025 Elegant International Film Festival in Bengal, India for Elixir: After Time. Finalist at the 2025 Global Visionaries Film Festival in Singapore for Again The Series. Official Selection at the 2025 Niagara Canada International Film Festival for Again The Series. These awards are my current greatest achievements, cause these shows were created from scratch by my partner and me; two entire web series that were made by two people only with the help of one cameraman in production, but the rest was done by the two of us only.

12.- What projects will you make next, and which ones do you have in mind?

I do wish to continue telling the stories of Again The Series and Elixir: After Time. As of now, my creative energy and drive are focused on finding the budget and resources to do so. After that, I’d definitely like to create something around an action genre. I see myself creating more sapphic web series in the near future.

13.- Would you like to make a movie in Spain?

It’d be an honor and a dream for me to do it!

14.- Do you like Spanish cinema?

I do! I love “El Orfanato” by J.A. Bayona, and “La Piel que Habito” by Pedro Almodóvar.
