Interviewing actress Chiara Basile Fasolo
1-. How was your childhood?
Very beautiful. I was a very curious child, and I traveled a lot with my parents around the world, always talked to everyone, and playing with kids from all over the world. I was fascinated by cinema and theater.
2. - From what age did you decide to be an actress and how did you know you had theskills to go on TV?
At 7 years old I already took my father's camera, which was analog and worked with cassette tapes and invited my friends and cousins to record films with me. I invented roles, and I was the director and actress, I loved it, I used all my imagination and creativity. Then I decided that I wanted to do this job forever. At 18 I moved to Rome, and shortly after they chose me for the first role and I understood that it was really my path. Over the years to work internationally, it helped me a lot to speak many languages, English, Spanish, French, and a little Arabic.
3. - Did your parents support you in the decision you made to be an actress?
They have always believed in me, and have always supported me, both morally and financially, allowing me to move to Rome to make my dreams come true. They have always been enthusiastic and when I got a role they celebrated with me. Having parents who believe in you is already a success.
4. - What was your first appearance on the screens?
At the age of 13, when I created a program for teenagers and proposed it to the TV station in my region. I went on air every week with topics that I decided, about the world of teenagers, between school, nutrition, sports, etc. At 17, on the big screen, all the cinema of Italy.
5. - What was the role you liked the most?
I liked my character called “Luna”, it was a challenge. I was very young and I had to play young mother, pregnant of a sick baby. The sick baby, born with a heart issue and I was waiting the doctors making the operation and saving his life. A dramatic role for one of the most popular TV series in Italy called “Braccialetti Rossi”, on main national broadcast Rai 1.
6.- What do you think led you to fame?
Passion, determination, study, sacrifice. An actor must tolerate being disappointed when you are not chosen for a film or series even after having done a perfect audition, especially at the beginning, and you think you are not good. But above all, never give up
7-. What types of characters you would like to interpret?
I would love to play a character from a period that really lived in the past centuries, to be able to know from a historical and artistic point of view a character that influenced history. For example Caterina de Medici or Queen Isabella of Spain, who by financing Columbus contributed to discovering America and changing the events of history.
8-. What actresses and actors do you feel comfortable working with?
I would love to work with Jennifer Aniston, but also with Nicholas Cage or Johnny Depp.
9-. In what other genres of art would you like to participate? (Works of theater, music, among others)
I definitely choose music. I play the piano and I discovered I was a soprano at 13 while I was listening to “La Traviata” at home and I tried to sing it. I am a soprano but I never studied for this, it is my natural talent, I get up in the morning and sing. However, it is a passion that I keep for a few, I only sing for family members or special people. However, I am also good at singing pop and I must say the truth that I would like to record an album, with a modern style obviously.
10.- Do you have any anecdotes that have marked you in your life and as a person?
Definitely a lot, I have been to many movie set and I have traveled to many countries in the world and I must say that I could tell thousands of them. I remember one morning at the airport at 6:30 in the morning, a girl comes up to me and offers me breakfast at the bar because she recognizes me, she had seen the series I worked on, she gave me so many compliments. We stayed a while to talk, it was a nice situation.
11.- What has been your greatest achievement?
Without a doubt creating my TV series “ITALIAN DREAM (villas and castles)”. It was my first experience as a producer and director, in the series I am also the main character. It was a very hard job, in which I involved all my heart and my professional skills. The TV series is having success, in many countries around the world, translated into multiple languages, available on Prime Video and on other TVs and platforms
12.- What projects will you make next and which ones do you have in mind?
In the next few months I will record the third season of my TV series “ITALIAN DREAM (villas and castles)”. In addition, a documentary will soon be available, which I shot in a truly unique place in the world. In the meantime, I am doing other auditions and will be on set with a new film
13.- Would you like to make a movie in Spain?
Yes I have to say that I love it, I speak perfect Spanish like a native, I had a Spanish nanny when I was little, I also remember that I watched passionally the Spanish series "Medico de familia". I would really like to be able to work in a Spanish TV series or film. So Spanish Producers and Directors, I’m here waiting for a cool role.
14.- you like spanish cinema?
Yes, very much, my favorite actors are Antonio Banderas and Javier Bardem, and without a doubt I adore Almodovar a lot, it would be great to work together and be directed by him..
